Tormek T-8 Sharpening System

The Tormek T-8 sharpening machine maximizes the precision with its revolutionary fully cast housing. This new design, together with a number of elaborated details, gives you the best conditions possible for a successful sharpening with top results.

The advanced design ensures an unbeatable precision for the Universal Support, which is the foundation of the Tormek sharpening system, since it controls all grinding jigs anmdf accessories. The former mounted sleeves for the Universal Support are now integrated in this model's fully cast machine housing. This update will increase the accuracy in your sharpening.

The characteristic drive system of Tormek is also implemented in the new model. the efficient system manages to maintain a constant speed, even under full load - something unique for Tormek's sharpeners. Tormek Original Grindstone SG-250 sharpens all qualities of steel, including HSS. The powerful AC motor is designed to drive the full grindstone during continuous use.

The water trough has been further improved with a screw lift for an easier fitting. It also has a double function magnetic scraper; during sharpening the magnet collects steel particles and after sharpening the scraper will make it easy to clean the water trough. For long tools that may drip water outside the water trough, you can easily fit the included water chute onto the edge of the trough.

The stainless steel main shaft with Tormek's unique EzyLock nut will automatically set the stone to the right torque without tools. EzyLock also makes it easy to switch stones if you work with Tormek's special stones SB-250 or SJ-250.

Sharpen your knives

The HTK-1006 Hand Tool Kit includes all our jigs for sharpening the vast majority of knives in your home. This kit includes the KJ-45 Centering Knife Jig, which you can use to sharpen everything from regular kitchen knives to outdoor knives, even lawnmower blades. In a nutshell, a very versatile jig!

The kit also includes the KJ-140 Wide Centering Knife Jig. The wider clamp stabilizes the long and flexible blades of filleting knives, for example. This gives you an even bevel and angle along the entire blade, even on knives with flexible blades that are otherwise difficult to sharpen uniformly.

Also included is the SVM-00 Small Knife Holder to be used together with the KJ-45 Centering Knife Jig. These allow you to easily sharpen even your smallest knives.

Sharpening scissors, axes and other hand tools

Every household has at least one pair of scissors. And more often than not it's a blunt pair of scissors. With the included SC-60 Scissors Jig you easily make your scissors sharper than when they were new.

The AX-40 Axe Jig is a very simple and precise jig which allows you to sharpen all types of axes. It allows for sharpening a concave, flat, or convex bevel on axes with straight or rounded edges. No matter what the axe is used for, working with a sharp edge is both easier and safer.

The SVS-38 Short Tool Jig sharpens most short hand tools, from small carving chisels and gouges, to flathead screwdrivers and more.

All jigs and accessories included come packaged in the TC-800 Tormek Case together with the HTK-00 Storage Tray for Hand Tool Kit. This specially designed packaging makes it easy to store and keep track of your jigs and accessories for sharpening tools at home or in your workshop. The case is made of a durable material and has a sliding lid that keeps everything in place. The storage tray is made of EPP, a material that's highly durable and perfect for storing your jigs for many years to come. Tormek Drill Bit Sharpening Attachment (DBS-22)

The DBS-22 Drill Bit Sharpening Attachment allows you to sharpen your drill bits from 3 mm (1/8") to 22 mm (7/8") in diameter with maximum precision and to give a four-facet point for best performance. The optimum tip and lip relief angle can be set for each drilling operation, taking into account the drill bit size and material. You can also sharpen broken bits back to the perfect shape.

Four-facet point that lasts longer

The patented DBS-22 Drill Bit Sharpening Attachment is used to create a four-facet point that provides great cutting characteristics as the cross-cut of the drill bit is pointed instead of being almost flat, as on many other drill bits. A four-facet point won't wander and requires significantly less drilling pressure compared to a conventional cone point drill.

A precision-sharpened four-facet point also reduces heat build-up, giving a very long service life for the drill bit. Independent tests show that drill bits sharpened using Tormek equipment last more than four times longer than new conventional drill bits¹.

¹ Uddeholm Tooling AB, 2010. In the test, 15 mm (0.59") deep holes were drilled in a hardened steel using a 6 mm (0.24") drill bit. At a speed of 1326 rpm and 0.15 mm (0.006") feed per revolution, the drill bits sharpened using the Tormek equipment lasted for 327 holes on average, while the new S-tip drill bits lasted for 72 holes.

Controlled sharpening

The risk of overheating and microcracking or loss of hardening of the steel is eliminated by working with the natural laws and cooling the edge continuously. You have full control at all times and can see how sharpening is progressing. A magnifying glass is included for smaller drill bits to help you line up the bit in the jig and see the results of your sharpening.

Tormek Rotating Base (RB-180)

The RB-180 enables you to easily rotate the machine 180° and lock it with complete stability. You can alternate between sharpening and honing, or sharpening towards or away from the edge in seconds.

Some tools are best sharpened with the stone running towards the edge and other tools should have the stone running away from the edge. With the Tormek Rotating Base RB-180, you can easily rotate the machine 180° to select the ideal sharpening direction.

The Rotating Base also makes it easy to switch from sharpening to honing. Honing is always carried out with the Honing Wheel running away from the edge, otherwise the tool will cut into the leather.

The RB-180 is constructed from three optimal high high performance materials to ensure a low friction and high stability. It automatically locks position.

A priority during the design process has been to make the RB-180 as thin as possible in order to not affect the working height. You easily turn the machine without any heavy lifting or water spilage.

The rubber feet absorb the normal vibrations and make sure that it rest firmly on the table. The RB-180 will fit the Tormek T-8, T-7, T-4, T-3, the 2000 and 1200 series, plus the SA-250 and N-1500.
